- To deliver nebulizer drug to special age group patient especially infants, children and old age patient who unable to use nebulizer properly.
3) How to use the tool.
a) Remove the cap.
b) Shake inhaler and insert it to the back of the aerochamber.
c) Place the mouth piece (for elderly) or mask (paediatric patient) to the another end of the chamber. Put the mouth piece into mouth and seal it with your lips. If you are using mask, make sure you cover the mouth and nose.
d) Press the canister once to relief the drug dose
e) Take a deep, slow breath in. (you may hear the whistling sound if you are breathing too rapidly.
f) Hold breath for 10 seconds and breath out through mouth piece. In pediatric patient, just let the patient breath in and out for few seconds.
g) Let the patient breath in and out but this time, do not press the canister.
h) Remove mouth piece from mouth and breath out.
i) If you need a second dose, wait for 30 seconds and repeat step c-h.
j) Seek medical treatment if symptoms not relief after 3-4 puff.
4) Modification to aerochamber.
Not all the patient can afford to buy the aerochamber. Patient may modified drinking bottle to make their own aerochamber. Use small size bottle for paed patient and larger size for elderly. Secure the opening with selotape and you are ready to use it.
