Patient is young and has no medical illness. Although rare, there are two most common cause of death that has been reported in Malaysia


1) Aspiration pneumonia

-Post mortem revealed that patient is not fasting even though was asked to do so. There is high possibility that patient secretly eat while in toilet. Therefore, for a safety reason, patient undergone ECT should be restrained a night before the procedure.


2) Slow analgesic metabolism

- Patient was found healthy from physical examination. However, some patient may have problem with analgesic metabolism which has something to do with mitochondrial disorder.


Therefore, patient may died of respiratory arrest due to the condition mentioned.
